Thousands of kilometres of bore holes were drilled.\u00a0 In the 20th century, the big uranium deposits, and the tin and tungsten skarn deposits of the Western Erzgebirge were discovered,<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of the 21st century, it seemed that there was nothing to discover any more. But since 2015, considerable research funds and new technologies led to new results. Today we have a <a href=\"http:\/\/arcgis.com\/home\/webscene\/viewer.html?webscene=2517c18a8a7c4ea28549ee8a2cc97abb&amp;viewpoint=cam:1684152.72352265,6959588.82176372,260142.798,102100;210.942,61.999\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3D model<\/a> of the Erzgebirge up to a depth of 3000 m below sea level, a new <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.beak.de\/portal\/apps\/webappviewer\/index.html?id=8cc81603622a4fd393cac3858b5bebae\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">metallogenic map<\/a>, and a new <a href=\"https:\/\/rohstoffe-erzgebirge.de\/mapsgeochem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">geochemical atlas<\/a>. Artificial intelligence based mineral prospectivity mapping opened new <a href=\"https:\/\/rohstoffe-erzgebirge.de\/en\/wistamerz#perspektiven\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">prospectivities<\/a>. Stratiform tin mineralisations in silicate rocks have been recognised as a separate mineralisation type.
